School Modernization Meeting
Thursday, June 1 @ 4:00, Staff Room
In 2015, we voted to approve Measure T’s $193M to improve RCSD school facilities. We’ve heard rumors that projects begin at 11 schools this summer, but Henry Ford and 4 others will be left out. Please join district project manager Don Dias on Thursday at 4:00 in the Staff Room to clarify project scope & timeline and ensure that all students, staff, and families benefit from public bond money in a timely manner. Support Henry Ford’s modest requests for a fresh coat of paint, safe & enclosed location for dumpsters, and sun protection over outdoor areas.
K-3rd Parents could win $50!
Do you know any local businesses who would like to invest in our students and demonstrate a commitment to quality education & community engagement? We are introducing a sponsorship program for the 2017-18 school year, so please share this opportunity with interested parties. Reach out in person, by phone, or email and give out this link http://henryfordpta.org/sponsor
Sponsors will be recognized for their contribution on our website.
Get Your Free Lightbulbs
These smart lightbulbs can last over 20 years and use only 11 watts! Which is great for the environment and also your wallet. Replace and use like regular bulbs (but much brighter!) or download the LIFX app and control light settings from your phone!
Donated by local Redwood City startup LIFX, a starter pack (2 lightbulbs) is FREE for Henry Ford families like you who subscribe to the weekly school newsletter. Order yours through PTA at http://henryfordpta.org/product/lifx/

As we look forward to the end of a great school year, start preparing your students for summer reading & learning! Be on the look out for suggested reading lists from Henry Ford Elementary teachers, and details for “Read to a Teacher” event(s) during the summer.
Our Redwood City libraries always run an amazing summer challenge with reading prizes and weekly drawings for museum passes.
Barnes & Noble has a summer program for kids to earn a free book. Print a journal for each student, read & write about 8 books, then turn in to a local store (closest one is at Sequoia Station) to choose a free book.
