MESSAGE FROM THE PTA PRESIDENT

Hello Henry Ford families!

Summer has approached quickly, yet  slowly given all that we have gone through the past few months. I am thankful for the hard work of our teachers and staff to make the most of the circumstances and doing their best in teaching our children. It has not been easy, but together we got through it somehow.

To show our thanks from the PTA to all of our wonderful teachers, Ivy Burg put together a fabulous basket of goodies which they received last week. And though we were unable to have a week of staff appreciation celebrations as we usually do in May, they received an inspirational message of thanks each day.

We were disappointed to cancel two fun events; Family Dodgeball and Pasta Dinner. However, because of our dedicated committee which had already procured many of the donations before SIP, we were still able to hold our online auction which brought in almost $6,000. We weren’t sure what to expect, but your generosity really showed how much you care about the school. On top of this, Henry Ford families, you blew it out of the park with family donations and company matching. This year our direct donation campaign raised the most money we have ever seen, over $30,000. This was immensely important as our school grew by nearly 200 students and the cost of providing programs went up. Thank you to all of our Henry Ford families for donating, volunteering, and participating at our events and activities throughout the year.

I would like to thank our amazing volunteers, because without you we wouldn’t be able to provide the fun, educational and enriching activities we do.

Colleen Lewcock, Jane Garrino, Jeff Waite, Teresita Carlos, Corinne Tsui, Jeanette Camacho, Becky Foutch, Kelley McCarthy, Ivy Burg, Ellen Jacobson, Jen Cambouris, Jana Thayer, Rhea Yauch, Luis Torres, Joanne Hurlow, Janet Lawson, Ellie Artale, Sara Mrsny, DeEtte Jones, Federica Belli, Carlo Contavalli, Kat Hurley, Susan Bouchard, Jamie Brown, Suzy Larson, Judie Gutuirrez, Bob Gutuirrez, Gail DeBellis. Special thanks to teachers and staff: Amy Barstad, Nancy Julien, Shaunna Ingersoll, Jessenia Linares.

Many of these volunteers who played such crucial roles will be moving on to new schools next year. We will miss them as we say goodbye. For those returning, I’m excited to continue working with you.

Have a joyful summer and see you in the fall!

5th Grade Promotion

Congratulations to our 5th graders on their promotion! There were cheers and smiles as they picked up their certificates and goodies. We wave goodbye to their time here at Henry Ford, but they will always be Mustangs at heart. Thank you to our fantastic 5th grade teaching team, Ms. Julien, Ms. Tuepel and Ms. JJ for making it a memorable final year.

Retiring Teachers

With the school year ending we say goodbye to a few of our wonderful teachers as they retire; Ms. Julien, Ms. Northen and Ms. Vallejo. They have dedicated their careers to educating our children with enthusiasm and love for teaching. We thank them for their time at Henry Ford and touching the hearts of so many. Cheers to you!

The California Schools and Local Communities Funding Act of 2020 (also known as the “split roll” initiative), will raise approximately $12 billion in annual funds for public education, local governments and community services by reassessing and taxing certain commercial properties at current market value. The initiative will appear on the November 2020 statewide ballot if it gets enough signatures to qualify by April 14.

We urge you to sign the petition, which you can do by clicking here. The campaign is also seeking volunteers to help collect signatures. Click here to volunteer.
