School Modernization Meeting

Thursday, June 1 @ 4:00, Staff Room

In 2015, we voted to approve Measure T’s $193M to improve RCSD school facilities. We’ve heard rumors that projects begin at 11 schools this summer, but Henry Ford and 4 others will be left out. Please join district project manager Don Dias on Thursday at 4:00 in the Staff Room to clarify project scope & timeline and ensure that all students, staff, and families benefit from public bond money in a timely manner. Support Henry Ford’s modest requests for a fresh coat of paint, safe & enclosed location for dumpsters, and sun protection over outdoor areas.

K-3rd Parents could win $50!

WestEd, a non-profit educational research agency, has a unique opportunity through the New Schools Venture Fund to learn about how technology is used at home and in the classroom by children in K through 3rd grade. We are reaching out to parents of children in these grades with a brief 15-question online survey about their child’s experiences with technology. As a thank-you, parents who complete the survey can enter to win a $50 gift card. All survey responses will be anonymous.

Summer Reading

As we look forward to the end of a great school year, start preparing your students for summer reading & learning! Be on the look out for suggested reading lists from Henry Ford Elementary teachers, and details for “Read to a Teacher” event(s) during the summer.

Our Redwood City libraries always run an amazing summer challenge with reading prizes and weekly drawings for museum passes.

Barnes & Noble has a summer program for kids to earn a free book. Print a journal for each student, read & write about 8 books, then turn in to a local store (closest one is at Sequoia Station) to choose a free book.

Do you know of any other summer reading programs? Share with us and we’ll spread the word to other Henry Ford school families on our school Reading Page. Thank you!
