Volunteer Needs

Project Cornerstone

In Project Cornerstone’s Asset Building Champions (ABC) program, parent volunteers read specially selected stories and lead classroom activities and discussions about building appropriate social skills.  The lessons focus on values like honesty, responsibility, and peaceful conflict resolution.  Special attention is given to issues like student-to-student, dealing with bully behaviors, and social conflicts.

The goal of the ABC program is to teach our children skills that they can use today and throughout their lives to help them deal with peer pressure, building and keeping friendships, making healthy decisions, and solving problems.  By sharing these concepts in class, we create a common language and vocabulary about these issues for the entire school.

Each month, parent volunteers meet as a group to review the story and lesson plan what they will present the following month.  The approximate time commitment is about 3 hours total each month.  For more information about volunteering, parents and school staff are encouraged to contact our ABC leaders:

Box Tops ContestBox Tops for Education

Clip and send in Box Tops found on household products with your student. Each Box Top is worth at least $0.10 for our school…and they add up! We need to get our earnings back over $1,000 this school year so we’re running a contest. The classroom that brings in the the most Box Tops between now and Friday Oct 13 will win a donut holes party! Find the surprising list of items with Box Tops here.

Art in Action is a PTA-supported program that brings art into the classroom during school hours through parent volunteers. The lessons and other training/teaching resources are provided on the website, making it easy for anyone to step into a leading or helping role. If you would like to volunteer or just want more information, please email Julie Prosper at


Our school relies on contributions from families like yours to pay for programs that enrich the learning experience for all Henry Ford Mustangs. For the 2017-18 academic year, a full student contribution is $200.  While we prefer a full annual contribution, any amount is gratefully accepted.
