Henry Ford Elementary School is a gem of the Redwood City School District. Our high-performing students, excellent teachers & administration, and academic achievement have been recognized along with our focus on developing the necessary social emotional skills to succeed in the 21st century.
National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools that work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child. As a National PTA School of Excellence, Henry Ford Elementary School families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.
Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Our school has successfully mastered these commitments and we applaud everyone for doing so.
Our school was chosen by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) as a 2016 California Honor Roll recipient. Honor Roll schools are recognized for demonstrating consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps.
This award is given in collaboration with leading businesses and foundations (e.g. McKinsey & Co and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) to establish a higher bar of performance than any other award. Unlike other awards which are only given after exhaustive qualitative applications, the Honor Roll is the only school recognition program in the state using quantitative data & analytics of student achievement outcomes as the criteria, and is a growing resource for all schools to learn about best practices that increase student achievement.
The San Mateo County School Boards Association (SMCSBA) bestowed this honor on our Professional Learning Community in 2013. Awards are given to outstanding and innovative programs which promote student success, employ a high degree of creativity, and demonstrate transferability.
